USAID Official Pleads Guilty in $550M Bribery Scheme

USAID Fraud and Corruption

Roderick Watson, a contracting officer at USAID, has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for steering over $550 million in federal contracts to favored companies.

Alongside three businessmen, Watson received cash, electronics, event tickets, and personal loans, bypassing fair bidding processes and exploiting programs intended to support minority- and women-owned businesses.

The scheme has drawn sharp criticism, especially from conservatives, and intensified scrutiny of USAID’s spending practices. Officials from the DOJ and IRS condemned the corruption, emphasizing the breach of public trust and the need for accountability in government procurement.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in the USAID crime scandal, Fedeal authorities need to go after everyone of them and prosecute, prosecute, prosecute, leave no one untouched.
